Trapped in Reflection

The man pictured is simultaneously caught in a moment of reflection of what his life could have been and also of what his life can never be. I took the photo of the man at a market in the Kurdish region of Iraq—bound by his religion and his culture and his geography he had very little other opportunities in life— he had no choice but to sell perfumes. I only recently added the picture to this assemblage shadow box form as it seemed to reinforce the idea of someone who is boxed in by endless reflections.
